Currently... O-Mi-Goodness

I know.  Most of you are in the last throes of the summer break.  I just finished the 4th week with my kiddos, and I'm working on interims for my students.  Uggh.  I'm about to get 13 parents who won't understand why their green bean is struggling in the new grade, but we just switched to the CCSS curriculum, which is definitely more rigorous.

Anywhoo... I'm linking up with Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade for Currently:
My Back 2 School Must Haves:
Daily 5/CAFE - read the books from the Sisters!!
Mystery Word of the Week -  I am going to improve the vocabulary of my students with these!!
Mystery Number of the Week - I'm trying to incorporate more best practices in math, so these should be perfect!!!!

Enjoy!!

  1. I love when the laundry fairy comes to visit. After she is done at your house will you send her over to mine? ;)

  2. Do you have the laundry fairy's number? I could use a visit from her too!

We switched to CCSS last year and it was a transition for all of us (teachers, students, and parents). Once school was really underway, the parents kind of relaxed a bit. Our school sent home the standards and I think that might have helped too.

    Fun post!

  3. Wow, 4 weeks with your kiddos already?! Sometimes I wonder if I would like to teach at a year round school more than my "regular school." I teach 2nd grade also, and my district is implementing the CCSS in primary grades this year... intermediate next year, and so on. I have spent a lot of time looking at the ELA CCSS and some time in the Math standards. What are you finding to be the most challenging part of implementing? Is it a specific subject...or aligning with current curriculums your district has for you...

  4. I did some curriculum work for my district this summer on ELA CCSS. The CCSS is a huge transition! You were one of the two link-up's ahead of me from Farley's Currently.

  6. Good luck with the parents! We will be paddling along in that boat together.

Thanks for the shout out! I need to make more of these!

And . . . after reading this I might go spend my first bottle cap money on a pedicure. I haven't had one since last July.
